Private Cloud Enginer (f/m/d)

  • Munich, Germany
  • Full-Time
  • Hybrid

Job Description:

Hybrid (home-office options + flexible hours) · Permanent · Full-time

You'd help build and run one of the largest private, on-premises Kubernetes clouds on the planet — bare metal, built and operated in-house. If that makes you lean in rather than sweat, keep reading.

The role
You build and run a private, on-premises Kubernetes platform on bare-metal servers. Not managed-cloud glue: you engineer the platform itself, write operators, extend it with persistent storage, GPUs and service mesh (Istio), and keep 500+ cloud-native services fast and reliable. Operational ownership is real — including a rotating 24/7 on-call team.

What you'll do

  • Expand and optimise the bare-metal Kubernetes infrastructure with your team — capacity, performance, reliability.
  • Develop and maintain the platform powering 500+ cloud-native services.
  • Build your own Kubernetes operators; extend the stack with persistent storage, GPUs and Istio service mesh.
  • Automate build and deployment end-to-end with continuous integration.
  • Contribute to open-source projects and share a rotating 24/7 on-call rotation.

What you bring
Must-haves:

  • Several years of production Kubernetes & Docker in a highly scalable, high-traffic environment — not prototypes.
  • Solid CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code with the corresponding tooling.
  • Strong Linux; good command of Bash, Python and/or Go.
  • Fluent Git workflows (feature branches, merge/pull requests) and fluent English.

Nice-to-have: Prometheus, Puppet, GitLab CI, German language skills.

Techstack: Kubernetes, Docker, Python, Go, Bash, Prometheus, Puppet, GitLab CI, Istio, Git.

What's in it for you

  • Scale you can't fake: one of the world's largest private Kubernetes clouds (85,000+ CPU cores).
  • TEC-Campus culture: free choice of Linux/Mac/Windows, slack days, conferences, open-source, meetups; flat hierarchies, no dress code, Diversity Charter signatory.
  • Home-office options, flexible hours, 30 days' vacation; broad training (LinkedIn Learning, mentoring); Wellpass, job-bike & job ticket, relocation service if you move to Germany.
